Eating Disorder Services

Eating Disoder - Services

We offer NICE-recommended therapies and can draw from each of the below therapies to tailor your treatment to your unique needs, goals, and preferences. Your care will be flexible, compassionate, and never one-size-fits-all.

CBT-E / CBT for Eating Disorders
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Eating Disorders (CBT-E) is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps individuals understand and change the patterns of thinking and behaviour that maintain disordered eating. It focuses on improving eating habits, reducing body image concerns, and building healthier coping strategies.

CBT-AR for Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for ARFID is a specialised form of therapy designed for individuals with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). It focuses on addressing food avoidance, sensory sensitivities, and anxiety around eating, with the goal of developing a healthier relationship with food. Through gradual exposure and emotional support, CBT-AR helps individuals increase food variety, overcome restrictive eating habits, and manage distress related to eating.

MANTRA
The Maudsley Model of Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA) is a gentle, collaborative therapy that explores the underlying factors contributing to an eating disorder. It focuses on improving motivation to change, strengthening relationships, and developing new ways to manage emotions and identity.

SSCM
Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM) is a flexible, person-centred therapy that supports individuals to make gradual changes in eating behaviour while exploring the personal meaning and function of the eating disorder. It provides practical guidance and emotional support in a less structured format.

ESM
Emotional and Social Mind Therapy is a compassionate approach developed specifically for binge eating. It explores how difficulties in managing emotions and navigating relationships can contribute to cycles of overeating. This therapy helps individuals build emotional resilience, improve social connection, and develop healthier ways to respond to emotional triggers, offering a supportive
pathway to lasting change.

Meal Planning and Supported Eating

All of our therapists are experienced in creating eating disorder specific meal plans that are realistic, supportive, and tailored to your recovery stage. We understand that food isn’t just about nutrition, it can carry anxiety, guilt, and overwhelm. Our approach combines nutritional structure with psychological support to help you rebuild a more peaceful relationship with food. Alongside meal planning, we offer supported eating sessions, including the opportunity to go out for meals or snacks with your therapist. These sessions help you face food-related fears in real-life settings, with someone by your side. At our Rustington clinic, we also have a fully equipped kitchen area, allowing us to practice cooking and meal preparation together-building skills and confidence to support recovery in everyday life.

Professional Supervision

Professional Supervision - Services

We offer professional supervision for therapists working with eating disorder-related cases, whether on an ongoing basis or ad hoc.
Supervision is led by our founder, an experienced Senior Therapist with over nine years in NHS Eating Disorder Services.

As an accredited CBT therapist (BABCP) and trained in CBT-E, CBT-T, MANTRA, and SSCM, she brings extensive

clinical knowledge across eating disorders, body image issues, perfectionism, and co-occurring

mental health challenges like anxiety and low self-esteem.

Her approach is integrative, grounded in both evidence-based models and her background in Occupational Therapy.

This helps her address the full complexity of client presentations and offers a well-rounded perspective for therapists working through challenging cases.

Supervision sessions are collaborative, reflective, and compassionate, with an emphasis on creating a down-to-earth, informal environment. Whether you're seeking support with a difficult case, building confidence in working with eating disorders,

or looking to deepen your skills, you'll find a safe, open space where you can learn, reflect, and grow.
